A bankruptcy will stay on your credit history for 10 years from the filing date of your bankruptcy, even if you received a discharge in your bankruptcy case. This means that when you apply for a loan, the lender will be able to see that you have filed for bankruptcy for 10 years after you file.
During this 10-year period, many lenders may not give you a loan, or they might charge you a higher interest rate.
