Giving notice to a victim of a workplace restraining order

Domestic violence can become workplace violence when it affects the employee's work. If your employee is abused at home, you can file for a Workplace Protection Restraining Order.  You must give the victim written notice before filing. You also need to have a conversation about their safety concerns.

If the victim gives you full permission, the employer can file right away. If he or she does not give permission, the employer has to wait 4 days to file. A victim of domestic violence cannot be ordered to appear in court. Nor can they be ordered to testify.
