Workplace discrimination is:

• Unfair treatment or harassment because you are a member of a protected class,
• Being denied a reasonable accommodation that you need because of your religion (including what you wear) or disability (including temporary accommodations for pregnancy), or 
• Punishment for complaining about job discrimination or for helping in a discrimination investigation.

If one of these happens to you, you can probably file a complaint against your employer. But there are many rules about the process that you must follow carefully.

Time limits

You will have a limited time to file a claim. The amount of time depends on where you file. This can be as short as 180 days.

How long you worked there also doesn’t matter. But more time on a job lets you take better notes on how you were treated.
