There are times when someone could be found inadmissible to be in the U.S. This means that the government could deny them a green card, visa, or citizenship. Whenever someone is found inadmissible to be in the U.S., the government always gives a reason. Some people can apply for a waiver of inadmissibility. This is a way to ask them to forgive that reason.
When you apply for a visa, green card, or citizenship you will be fingerprinted. The government will use these to do a background check. If they find out that you are inadmissible or deportable, you may be deported.
Applying for a waiver requires more than just filling out a form. Waivers have different requirements that depend on what type you want waived. You must include other documents that explain why they should grant your waiver. You should consult with an immigration lawyer before applying for a waiver.
