I was told that my section 8 voucher will be taken away

The Housing Authority must do the following before it can take away a tenant's Section 8 voucher:

  • Give written notice that they want to take away the voucher, and why; and
  • Allow the tenant to ask for a hearing to fight the Section 8 voucher termination. The notice must give the tenant a hearing request deadline.

The Housing Authority must continue to make monthly assistance payments until the hearing is held and a final decision is made.
